Minecraft is a 3D sandbox game that has no specific goals to meet, allowing players a great amount of freedom in choosing how to play. However, there is an achievement system, known as "previews" in the Java edition of the game, and "trophies" in the PlayStation ports. The game is in first person perspective by default, but players have the option of third person perspective. The game world is made up of rough three-dimensional objects, primarily cubes and fluids, commonly called "blocks", representing various materials, such as earth, stone, minerals, tree trunks, water, and lava. The main game revolves around collecting and placing these objects. These blocks are organized in a 3D grid, while players can freely move around the world. Players can "mine" blocks and then place them elsewhere, allowing them to build things. Many commenters have described the game's physics system as unrealistic. The game also contains a material known as red stone, which can be used to craft primitive mechanical devices, electrical circuits, and logic gates, allowing the construction of many complex systems.
